The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. LSHTM has been in collaboration with Centre de Recherche Entomologique de Cotonou (CREC) since over 12 years in research on vector control tools.

Centre de Recherche Entomologique de Cotonou (CREC)

CREC was established in 1993 and is the leading centre for vector control research in Benin. CREC advices the Ministry of Health of Benin on Malaria Vector Control, performs research and consultancy on Vector Control related issues.

Pan-African Malaria Vector Research Consortium

Pan-African Malaria Vector Research Consortium was founded in 2008 as a consortium of three African vector control research sites (including Cotonou, Benin) specializing in the development and evaluation of malaria vector control products and interventions.

The IVCC

The Innovative Vector Control Consortium is a not-for-profit public-private partnership that was established as a charity in 2005. CREC/LSHTM has been a collaborative field site of the IVCC since its inception. IVCC is a core funder of the CREC/LSHTM Collaborative Research Programme and plays a major international role in speeding up the development of new vector control tools.

World Health Organisation (WHO)

CREC/LSHTM is also a collaborative field site for the WHO. WHO has commissioned CREC/LSHTM to evaluate several Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLIN) and Indoor Residual Spray (IRS) products.

MITSUI CHEMICALS

CREC/LSHTM is currently working closely with MITSUI on new products for malaria vector control.

DISEASE CONTROL TECHNOLOGIES

CREC/LSHTM has generated Phase 1 & 2 efficacy data for a new net developed by DCT.

BASF

We have been working with BASF for several years on chlorfenapyr for IRS and LLINS. CREC/LSHTM was instrumental in the development of Interceptor G2, a new generation LLIN which has just received PQ listing.

SYNGENTA

CREC/LSHTM generated efficacy data in WHOPES Phase 2 experimental hut studies that was important for WHO recommendation of Actellic 300CS for IRS.

BAYER

CREC/LSHTM worked closely with BAYER to generate WHOPES Phase 1 & 2 data on the efficacy of Fludora Fussion, a new IRS product.

SUMITOMO CHEMICAL

CREC/LSHTM has worked closely with SUMITOMO on the evalution of new LLINS such as Olyset Plus and Olyset Duo.
